For Monday

On Monday we are hopefully going to attach the 3rd wheel in the front and finish up our water container. We will glue the lid of the rover to the top of the rover and we will cover more things with our purty duct tape.  We will also hopefully try to think of a way to add a thermometer which is not in our designs but we think would be cool so we will add that once we build it. Our people that the kindergardeners made still have to be added as well. If we have time we will also hopefully add our logo onto our rover but we may not get half of these things done, i am just makin ga list so that we dont forget any of these things.

It's a work in progress

work for 3-20-12

Today we worked on wrapping our rover in silver duck tape so it would look like it was made out of tin. We also created our song to the tune of we have a little dredel. Along with this we crated our drill by cutting a coke can in a circular motion. Then we created out camera platform out of juice boxes.

Kindergarden Plan

OK so for the kindergarden we are planning on bringing popsicle sticks and fun glitter glue and markers and arts and crafts things so that the kids can decorate the popsicle sticks into little people that we'll glue onto our rover and that way "people" can go to Enceladus.

SLOGAN!!!

Space Tractor, tractor from space.

NAME FOR ROVER!!!!

Our name for the rover is now: drumroll please: SPACE TRACTOR!!!!!!

inspired by the fact that our box looks like a tractor.

SLOGAN (idea)!!!

(to tune of goldfish jingle) Enceladus is cool. Literally.

LOGO!!!

So I sent Mr. Sniedman our logo. Hope he likes it! :)

Hasselblad Camera

This was the first camera to be used in space and this is what we will be modeling our camera off of. USing two juice boxes glued together with a aluminum can jutting out, we can achieve near perfection. Hopefully :) We will try to position this camera on a revolving platform that sticks out of our rover on a rod so that we can have vision all around and be able to "crane the neck" of teh rover.
Working on our wheels

Tuesday, March 13, 2012

To Test the liquids I looked up different kinds of sampling methods and found a whole list that we can hopefully use to come up with an instrument to put on our rover.  We also may discover a project to do with the kidergardeners.

    Sampling Methods

    www.westfallteam.com/Papers/Sampling%20Methods.pdf
File Format: PDF/Adobe Acrobat - Quick View
For example, a tester could randomly select 5 inputs to a test case from the population ... from the list is selected as the sample, starting with a sample element n ...

I hope that worked as a link because I didn't know how to connect it.

Daily journal- march 13th

Today we got the wheels and taped them together with electrical tape so they would be more secure. we are planning on putting the cardboard box over the metal bar in between the two wheels.

ENCELADUS FACTS

Enceladus is one of Saturn's intermost moons.  It shows five different types of terrain including fissures, plains, corrugated terrain and other crustal deformations.  There are also parts that show craters no larger than 35km in diameter and some regions display no crater impact at all. This indicates major resurfacing events in Enceladus's recent geological past.  All of these landforms indicate that the interior of Enceladus my be water today even though it should have frozen aeons ago.  Enceladus's orbit is disturbed by neighboring satellites, Dione and Tethys and Saturn's gravitational field.

Alumium alloys are the most heat conductive while being the strongest metal drill that I could find. I don't know if a design somewhat like this but a drill shape would work: aluminum alloy, or just something like this: alluminum alloy drill.
